As a child, Graeme had a fascination with nature, science, aircraft and art. He was an avid reader even from an early age, always striving to learn, to gain as much knowledge and understanding as he could. Graeme had health problems as a teenager – Crohn’s Disease, Primary Schlerosing Cholangitis, not to mention his severe penicillin allergy attack and so spent a lot of time in hospitals.Being Sunderland born and bred, Graeme was a keen Sunderland Football Fan and he joined the Sunderland Message Board (SMB) in 2002 as ‘Hazey’. He became a frequent and well known (usually opinionated) character. He started to blog on the site in May 2006 and his witty, humorous, observant writing skills became evident and Graeme soon built up a strong following. In April 2007 Graeme was first made aware of his serious health issues and was diagnosed in May 2007 with Cholangiocarcinoma (Cancer of the Bile Duct).Graeme’s blogs detailed the truth of his feelings towards his illness, and depicted his extraordinary attitude in his fight of the cancer but also of his total wonderment and appreciation of the world/universe he lived in. The readership of Graeme’s blogs grew. Countless people contacted Graeme to tell him how life changing and inspirational his blogs were. When Graeme died in January 2008, he knew he was loved deeply by his wife and family but also by the many readers and followers of his blog.He died a very happy man.
